A Mini Zine on the Beauty of Vast, Open Skies
About Karachi's coercive real estate developments & how the city doesn't work for its residents.
Karachi’s destruction by the real estate mafia breaks my (and a few other residents’) hearts, and the only way I know to help heal my broken heart is to write about it.
This week’s original letter covered a fantastic zine series by a talented team about a major real estate development in Karachi and its subsequent large-scale environmental destruction. But writing about these zines was simply not coming up easily for me. God!
Then I realized that before I could highlight their work, I needed to show the similarities and connections between our two sets of works, and the way we look at the world. Coincidentally, two years ago, I had also created a mini-zine about Karachi being destroyed by the rich and powerful, albeit my zine was personal and hand-written.
So I’m pushing the original letter to next week. This week, I’m sharing my old mini-zine on Karachi; I made it using a single A4 sheet. From the summer of ‘23. The good old days.
A zine is a powerful tool for elevating our own voices through creativity. —

Tip: Back in the day, I was inspired to make my basic zines by the zine-making of an American writer/artist,
